Is the silk real?
Yes. The hood is lined with certified 100% mulberry silk, graded 6A at 22 momme. The same quality standard as the premium silk pillowcases already in your routine. Not polyester satin. Not a silky-feel synthetic. Real silk.
Is it satin or silk?
Silk. Satin describes a type of weave, not a fibre, and it is usually made from polyester, which is synthetic. zwilky uses 100% mulberry silk. Real silk has a natural protein fibre structure that creates a genuinely smooth contact surface. Polyester satin is smoother than fleece, but it is not silk. If a product uses the word silky without specifying the fibre, that is a signal.
Will it fit my hair? curls, braids, locs?
The hood is designed with real hair volume in mind. If you wear a bonnet over your natural hair or protective styles, the zwilky hood is built to accommodate curls, coils, locs, braids, twists, and voluminous hair without crushing or flattening. Can I wash it?
Yes. zwilky is designed to be practical to own every day, not fragile. See the Care Guide for full wash instructions. The silk lining can be cared for at home, no dry cleaning required for routine washing. Owning a zwilky silk-lined hoodie should not feel like owning a delicate museum piece.
Is it only for curly hair?
No. Curly, coily, wavy, and textured hair users tend to feel the rough-hood problem most strongly, but if you have a blowout, a silk press, braids, locs, fine hair that breaks easily, or simply want a softer contact surface where the hood sits against your hairline and face, zwilky is relevant. If you care about your hair and you wear hoodies, it is for you.
What about skin? Is it better for the skin around my face?
When the hood is up, the silk lining sits against your hairline, cheeks, jaw, and the sides of your face, the same areas where ordinary fleece rubs. That means a noticeably softer contact surface where a standard hood would create rougher friction. zwilky makes no skin treatment claims, but a smoother material where your hood meets your face is simply a better experience.
Will it make my hair oily?
No. The silk lining is a contact surface, not a treatment. It does not add product, oil, or anything to your hair. It simply creates a smoother surface for your hair to rest against instead of the rougher cotton fleece inside a standard hood.
Is it good for protective styles?
Yes. Braids, twists, locs, and other protective styles still experience fabric contact from ordinary hoods, especially around the hairline, nape, and edges. zwilky gives those styles a smoother silk surface inside the hood, which is gentler at the contact points that matter most.
How is it different from wearing a bonnet under my hoodie?
It replaces the need for one. zwilky builds the silk protection directly into the hoodie you are already reaching for, so there is no separate layer to put on, carry around, or remember. The protection is just there. In something that looks like a great hoodie, not bedtime headwear.
Why is it more expensive than a normal hoodie?
Because it is not built like a normal hoodie. zwilky uses a heavyweight 460 GSM organic cotton outer and a certified 6A, 22 momme mulberry silk hood lining. The price reflects the material quality, the construction, and the fact that this is solving a problem ordinary hoodies have always ignored. Compare it to the cost of a silk pillowcase, a blowout, or a wash-day routine, then decide if protecting that investment is worth it.
Will the silk lining affect how warm it is?
No. The warmth comes from the outer layer: 460 GSM brushed organic cotton fleece. The silk lining inside the hood is smooth and temperature-neutral rather than insulating, but it does not reduce the warmth of the outer. You get the full weight and coverage of a premium heavyweight hoodie, with silk only where your hair actually sits.
